5 Discoveries About the Mercedes-Benz Concept Eqv Electric Van

Mercedes-Benz Vans has constantly advanced and evolved the electrification of its product portfolio. Mercedes-Benz has invested millions of dollars in its new battery-powered electric vehicle platforms, giving birth to another sub-brand (EQ) as well as a future in which literally dozens of electric plug-in vehicles will feature the three-pointed star. The latest concept in this is the Concept EQV, an all-electric van. With the Concept EQV, Mercedes-Benz is now taking the next step. The concept offers all of the brand-typical attributes familiar from this segment which Mercedes-Benz customers have come to know, appreciate and also expect.

The van is expected to have a range of nearly 250 miles from it’s a 100-kWh battery pack. And like the current V-Class, it will be available in multiple configurations including cargo, family hauler, and shuttle. But that’s not all. Here’s what you need to know about some new discoveries by experts who sat in a luxurious and spacious cabin of the new EQV concept:

Here are five key things that we have discovered:
  1. Easier to electrify: Like with every electric van, you have to store the battery and that is a task always. But with a van, you do not have to sacrifice proportions, visually, in order to do that because you can store the battery in the existing floor. This is exactly what Mercedes-Benz did. There is plenty of floor space for battery storage.
  2. Vans may become omnipresent: With the current pace of lifestyle and necessities, a vehicle can become a third place in addition to your house and work. And if that actually happens, what will you prioritize in the vehicle? Obviously SPACE. And the van conceptualized has that. Like the F015 shown by Mercedes-Benz a few years back, this van can be a rolling loft with plenty of room to stretch out and work or relax while the vehicle drives you through the traffic.
  3. EQ Family Accents: Mercedes-Benz brought in the color and trim bits from the EQC Concept along with blue and black leather, rose gold accents, and especially the EQ face and grille. The only actual and real design freedom on a van is in the front end. The rest is mainly just package and volume. But Mercedes-Benz has done a great job of cleaning it up, and giving it the beauty, as well as trim and materials it requires to be a luxury van.
  4. People have ideas of what to do with the space: Interviews and surveys have said that people might use that space to cook, or to sleep, put in a bed. Once the word spreads more, there will be more people popping with new ideas.
  5. Usable space: Vans have more usable space than in an estate.  You can throw your boards in there, you can sleep in there. But to make vans cool again you have to make them good looking. You have to give it some nose, not just blunt functionality.

No adjustments when it comes practicality

MPVs from the Mercedes-Benz meet the highest demands of variability and functionality. And in these areas, the fully electric variant makes no concessions either. By installing the battery in the vehicle's underfloor, the entire interior space is available without restriction. The Concept EQV benefits from the scope of the brand’s electromobility systems. This starts from the wide assortment of services, ranging from the charging infrastructure to a modified navigation system which takes into account the charge level of the battery. There will also be apps which, for example, enable control of the pre-entry climate control or cashless payments at public charging stations.

Also, the seating configurations make the vehicle a practical family companion about town as well as allowing for easy transport of sports and outdoor equipment. With the Concept EQV, Mercedes-Benz is offering an extremely flexible, a complete electric vehicle concept which can easily be converted to a 7 or even 8-seater with the addition of individual seats or seat benches.
